Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about booking and sessions

Booking & Scheduling

How far in advance should I book?

For weddings and large events, I recommend booking 6-12 months in advance to ensure availability. Portrait sessions can typically be scheduled 2-4 weeks ahead, though peak seasons may require more notice. Popular dates like spring and fall weekends book up quickly.

What is the booking process?

Start by reaching out via email or phone to discuss your vision. We'll schedule a consultation (in-person or virtual) to go over details. Once we've agreed on the package, I'll send a contract and invoice for the deposit to secure your date.

Do you travel for sessions?

Yes! I'm based in New York but available for travel worldwide. For destinations within 50 miles, travel is included. Beyond that, travel fees cover transportation and accommodation. I love destination weddings and on-location portrait sessions.

What happens if the weather is bad on my session day?

For outdoor sessions, we monitor the weather closely. If conditions are unsuitable, we'll reschedule at no extra cost. Light rain or overcast skies often create beautiful, soft lighting—sometimes the 'imperfect' weather makes for the best photos!

Sessions & Pricing

How long do sessions typically last?

Portrait sessions typically run 1-2 hours, which gives us plenty of time for multiple outfits and locations. Weddings are usually 8-12 hours of coverage, capturing everything from preparation to the reception. Event coverage varies based on your specific needs.

What should I wear to my session?

I recommend choosing outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. Solid colors and classic styles photograph beautifully. Avoid busy patterns and logos. I send a detailed style guide after booking with specific recommendations for your session type.

Can I bring my own props or ideas?

Absolutely! I love incorporating meaningful items and personal touches. Whether it's a family heirloom, your favorite book, or a specific location that's special to you, these elements make your photos uniquely yours.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, for weddings and larger packages, I offer flexible payment plans. After the initial deposit, we can split the remaining balance into monthly payments leading up to your event date.

Photos & Delivery

When will I receive my photos?

Portrait sessions are delivered within 2 weeks. Wedding galleries are ready in 4-6 weeks. You'll receive a private online gallery for viewing, downloading, and sharing. Sneak peeks are typically shared on social media within 48 hours.

How many photos will I receive?

Portrait sessions typically yield 30-50 edited images. Weddings vary based on coverage hours, usually 50-100 images per hour of coverage. You receive all the best images—every photo delivered is carefully culled and fully edited.

Can I print my photos anywhere?

Yes! You receive full-resolution files with a personal use print release, so you can print anywhere you choose. I also offer professional printing services if you'd like archival-quality prints, albums, or wall art.

Do you offer albums or prints?

Yes, I partner with professional labs to offer heirloom-quality albums, fine art prints, and canvas wraps. Album design is included with select wedding packages, and prints can be added to any session.

General Questions

What style is your photography?

My style is light, airy, and naturally romantic. I focus on authentic moments and genuine emotions while ensuring everyone looks their best. I blend documentary-style candids with thoughtfully posed portraits for a complete story.

Do you provide raw/unedited files?

I don't provide raw files, as they're unfinished work and don't represent the final quality of my photography. Every delivered image is carefully edited to ensure consistency and the signature LiraPhoto look.

Can family members or friends take photos during the session?

For portraits, I ask that we focus on our session together without additional cameras. For weddings, I coordinate with family photographers to ensure we're not competing for moments and everyone gets great shots.
